From the Pyrenees to the Mediterranean, La Route d'Occitanie - La Dépêche du Midi is an event reserved for professional groups. This cycling event crosses the cities of the greater Occitania / Pyrenees-Mediterranean Region.
This stage includes all the characteristics of a typical stage of the Tour de France. From the first kilometers, they will start with the small climb of Lançon and will be linked with the difficult climb of the Hourquette. It will be followed by a long descent from the Campan valley towards Capvern.
The climb of Port de Balès is clearly the longest of the day, the most difficult; fairly regular, it may do a lot of damage within the pack. Followed by a technical descent before diving on a faster portion to Luchon.
The last difficulty will be a two-part climb that starts at the start of the ascent to Superbagnères, before turning left; a moment of respite before the last 5 kilometers. A beautiful show at the rendezvous!
For the little story...
